Welcome to Valhalla

Valhalla is our woodland base camp set in the beautiful Lincolnshire countryside and home to our Axe & Knife Throwing Range, our Jo Gough Memorial Archery Range and our Field Archery Range.

Situated just outside the  village of Keelby in Lincolnshire, Valhalla offers an opportunity to step away from the stresses and troubles of everyday life.

How to find Valhalla

Why the name 'Valkyrie?' and why is 'EIR' our motto?

Our name, Valkyrie, is inspired by the Norse Goddess Eir. Eir's name means HELP or MERCY.

As a Valkyrie, Eir accompanied her battle-sisters. Whilst the other Valkyries chose the slain, Eir chose those who would live, recover, and return to health.

As a chooser of life, Eir is among the most important of all goddesses which, is why our company logo and motto is a tribute to her. Explore, Identify, Respond (EIR).

Valkyrie Wilderness Workshops is led and driven by a dedicated team of professional Directors and volunteers, bringing experience in assessment and interventions for a variety of personal and social problems, alongside specialist skills in leading our core activities and occasional ‘pop-up’ workshops.

Our combination of veterans and non-veterans has proven highly effective in helping break down perceived barriers between the two groups.

Why outdoor activities?

It is widely accepted that there is a therapeutic benefit to spending time in the outdoors. Our rural location offers a tranquil setting, home to squirrels, and a variety of birds which participants may spot whilst attending our programmes.

Our Wilderness Workshops programme has been designed to fit with the concept of 'green' social prescribing, offering people the opportunity to gain the benefits of the outdoors, to socialise and share experiences and problems, and also to gain a sense of achievement by contributing to developing our facilities, maintaining the communal garden area, or developing their practical skills.
